Project Description

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is undertaking the construction of Jiribam-Imphal rail line project in Manipur, India.

The project involves the construction of 111km long broad gauge rail line.

The project includes the construction of nine stations, one each at Dolakhal, Kaimai road, Kambiron, Thingou, Khongsang, Noney, Tupul, Haochong road and Imphal, 148 bridges including four tall, five major and 139 minor bridges, and 45 tunnels. The tunnel 12 will be 11.55 km long.

The project is being developed in two sections.

The first section involves the construction of 84km of a rail line connecting Jiribam and Tupul broad, 34 tunnels covering a total length of 39,401m, 112 minor bridges, six major bridges, three roads over bridges (ROB) and two roads under bridges (RUB).

The second section includes the construction of a 27km long road from Tupul to Imphal, 12 tunnels with a total length of 15.1km, three major and 27 minor bridges along with two station buildings.

The longest tunnel in the first section will be 4.9km in length, and the longest tunnel in the second section will be 10.
